Emergencies
|
|
|
If
you need a Doctor in an emergency,
telephone 745585. Outside surgery hours you will be directed to one of our doctors or to On Call Care (formerly MAIDDOC). If you are well enough to travel you will be asked to attend the Centre in Aylesford. Telephone conversations are recorded but are kept completely confidential. This is a co-operative service which involves all the Doctors in Maidstone, including ourselves, and provides a highly efficient emergency response. The service is closely monitored and has a high satisfaction rate. Dr Reynolds is one of the founder managers.

Home
Visits
|
|
|
If
you are too ill to get to the surgery
please ring before 10.00am to arrange a
home visit. A Doctor will phone you back
to assess your condition before deciding
how best to deal with your problem.

|
Training
|
|
|
Doctors,
nurses and administrative staff are all
strongly involved in further education. We
frequently have extra staff attached for
training purposes in all these
departments. Much of the time there will
be a Registrar (a fully qualified Doctor
furthering their career in General
Practice) working at Stockett Lane
Surgery.
We occasionally use video recordings of
consultations for teaching purposes. You
will be informed of this prior to your
consultation. If you have any objections
at all do let the receptionist or Doctor
know and the video will not be used.
There are occasions when patients need to
be examined by a doctor which may involve
an intimate examination. If you wish a
chaperone to be present during your
examination please do not hesitate to ask
the doctor for a chaperone.
It may not be possible for such a
chaperone to be provided immediately and
you may be asked to return for the
examination to be carried out at a
mutually convenient time.

Advice
|
|
|
You are welcome to telephone a doctor for advice. The receptionists are instructed not to interrupt a doctor's consultation unless the matter is extremely urgent. If you wish to leave your number, a doctor will try to ring you back later in the day.

|
Concerns
|
|
|
If
you have cause for concern, please speak
to the receptionists or the practice
manager. We aim to give the highest
possible standard of service and will try
to deal swiftly with any problems that may
occur.

Help
Us To Help You
|
|
|
The
staff at the practice endeavour to give
you the best possible service:-
1. If you are unable to keep your
appointment, please cancel as early as
possible before the appointment time. If
you ring at the last minute, it is usually
impossible to re-use your appointment.
2. If you make your appointment for one
person, please do not ask the doctor to
see more than one, even if the symptoms
are identical. the doctor will not have
sufficient time.
3. For laboratory test results or information from hospital letters please try to telephone after 2.00pm. Please note that for reasons of confidentiality, staff are only able to give results to the patient concerned i.e. not to relatives or friends, unless we have written permission from the patient.
4. Please do not ask for repeat
prescriptions by phone as this can lead to
mistakes. It is much safer if the
computerised prescription request form is
sent / faxed / left at the surgery.
5. Please only ask for a home visit if the
patient is too ill to come to the surgery.
Home visits are much more time consuming
than surgery appointments. Facilities for
examination and diagnosis are more
comprehensive at the surgery. It can
benefit feverish children to be taken
outside.
6. When the surgery is closed, please only
ring up for genuine emergencies which
cannot wait until the surgery is next
open.

We
are keen to develop the service we offer
and welcome any suggestions as to how we
can improve. If you have any suggestions
or comments we do urge you to put them to
the practice manager or to one of the
doctors.
Monitoring our performance is important to
ensure we continue to deliver quality
services. On occasions we may request your
assistance by asking you to complete a
questionnaire. We would welcome your
co-operation.
